Acoustic Meets Electric Bass with Steve Bailey

Welcome to Getting Together with Gary!
On the first Saturday of each month, ISB founder Gary Karr hosts an online salon, inviting captivating guests to share stories, ideas and points of view about the musical life. On Saturday, March 5, Gary will be getting together with...

Steve Bailey! Gary and Steve have a mutual admiration society and are masters of their chosen instruments. They'll be discussing how playing the acoustic and electric bass is different, how it's the same, and how to fine tune your approach to both.

Steve Bailey is Chair of the Bass Department at the Berklee College of Music. He is Artist-in-Residence at Coastal Carolina University and was previously a faculty member at Hollywood's BIT for 10 years. Steve formed the Bass Extremes duo with Victor Wooten in 1993, and teaches at Victor's Bass/Nature Camp for bassists of all abilities. Steve is a sought after clinician and a columnist for Bass Player magazine. He has toured, performed and recorded with everyone from Pacquito D'Rivera and Dizzy Gillespie to Willie Nelson and Ernestine Anderson. His latest album, "Carolina," features duets with 17 artists including Ron Carter, Mike Stern, Victor Wooten, Howard Levy and many more. (Oh, and he's won a couple of surfing competitions, too!)

This is a free event for all!
