January 2022

Forest Hill Focus

Welcome to the NEW Year!

I can't believe that half of our school year is over. Our littlest students are getting ready for first grade and our 5th graders are preparing to be independent middle schoolers. The time has flown by!

We continue to work to keep everyone safe and healthy during the global pandemic. As we mark history, our students are thriving at school. We have all means to keep the virus from spreading and need your support to ensure that face masks are worn each and every day.

Remember to stay at home if you have symptoms which may include:

  • FEVER OF 100 DEGREES OR HIGHER
  • COUGH
  • SHORTNESS OF BREATH
  • CHILLS
  • FATIGUE
  • MUSCLE PAIN
  • HEADACHE
  • SORE THROAT
  • NEW LOSS OF TASTE OR SMELL
  • NAUSEA OR VOMITING
  • DIARRHEA
  • CONGESTION OR RUNNY NOSE

If you are having a rough time during this pandemic, you are not alone. We have services for you: counseling, Red Oak, Project Rise, and more. Let me know what help you may need. As I say each morning, “We are in this together!”

Fondly,

Mrs. Sarah Core

PBIS & You

PBIS

What is “Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports”?

What does it look like in schools for children and families?

Watch the video below from the Ohio Department of Education about how Ohio schools reinforce positive behavior, and to learn about how Ohio families like you can and do support positive behavior at home

PBIS at Forest Hill

At Forest Hill, we use a PBIS Matrix that identifies expected behaviors in all areas of school, including; hallway, buses, cafeteria, playground, and restrooms these are the common areas of the school.

We reward students with tickets for showing positive behaviors with tickets. Students enter tickets for a classroom raffle at the end of each week.

This is our first year using PBIS and we are excited to see so many examples of positive behavior in our school.

Monthly, the whole school has a opportunity to participate in a schoolwide event. In December, students created Gingerbread Houses. Our next Wildcat Workshop is scheduled for January. Stay tuned to hear about he great events!

Title 1

Title I continues to fund our educational systems. We have used monies to support Social/Emotional health in our classrooms. Here is a picture of weighted wildcats, used as a sensory support for students in need.

We are in this together!

Have a great day!
