Daley College Financial Aid Night

When: Wednesday, December 4 @ 6-8:30PM

Where: Daley College, Beattie Theater

Daley College will be hosting a Family Financial Aid Night in collaboration with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) and the CPS Office of School Counseling and Postsecondary Advising.  

We will be hosting various workshops for families and students on the financial aid process, completing the FAFSA application, and learning about the RISE ACT. 

All workshops will be available in English and Spanish.

University of Chicago - Collegiate Scholar's Program - Info Session

The University of Chicago Collegiate Scholar’s Program (UCCSP) was founded in 2003 as a three-year enrichment program that aims to prepare talented Chicago Public High School students in grades 10-12 for admission and success at the nation’s top colleges and universities. UCCSP is shaped around a core curriculum of humanities, social science, math, and science courses during the summer months and enrichment activities geared toward college readiness, cultural awareness, civic engagement, and leadership during the academic year

Gray Matter Experience

The Gray Matter Experience is an 12-week entrepreneurship exposure experience in which up to 30 top high school students across Chicago will be selected to participate. During the program, you will work with students across the city learning how to build businesses from entrepreneurs and professionals. You'll then take that knowledge and create a business to help impact communities on the South and West sides of the city. Throughout the program, you'll also go on several fun and interactive field trips to see hands on applications of entrepreneurship and behind-the-scenes processes of some of Chicago's coolest professions. All participating students will receive a stipend that can be used to fund their businesses or towards internships to learn more about the entrepreneurial community.

ResearcHStart - Cancer Research

ResearcHStart welcomes high school students from the Chicago area to explore exciting careers in cancer research. Participants work full time in the laboratories of established cancer researchers, gaining hands-on experience in areas at the forefront of the field: cancer immunology, bioengineering, experimental cancer therapeutics, cancer disparities and more.

Rigorous research training is complemented by career development and skill-building workshops, a cancer-based faculty lecture series, and a network of faculty and peer mentors dedicated to students’ success. The program culminates in a research symposium for family, friends and members of the scientific community. Participants receive a taxable stipend of $2,500.

Participating Institutions: University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Illinois at Chicago, Northwestern University and Rush University

Program Dates: June 22 – August 14, 2020

Application Deadline: January 20, 2020

Urban & Regional Planners

Urban and regional planners develop land use plans and programs that help create communities, accommodate population growth, and revitalize physical facilities.

Most urban and regional planners work full time during normal business hours, and some may work evenings or weekends to attend meetings with officials, planning commissions, and neighborhood groups.

Urban and regional planners need a master’s degree from an accredited planning program to qualify for most positions.
